Welcome to the ultimate cadet and junior driver driver program; designed specifically for new cadet and junior drivers. At its core, the day is designed to provide cadet and junior drivers with the tools and knowledge they need to become safe, skilled, and competitive racers.

To date, over 80 young kart racers have participated in this program with over 90% of drivers passing their OLS on the day!

Jam packed with a full day of driver coaching and workshops, this day is perfect for the new kart racer to give them the confidence to race.

About the day

We kick off each day with a comprehensive track walk where we cover everything from racing lines and braking markers to flag points and start procedures. We also highlight important painted lines on the track, and discuss track limits to ensure you're fully prepared for racing at Australia’s biggest kart club, Ipswich Kart Club.

We group the 12 drivers by skill level to ensure you receive personalized attention and guidance. With no more than 3 karts on the track at a time, you'll have plenty of space to master new skills and techniques. Plus, we've got you covered when it comes to lunch. Drivers and parents can enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch provided by the club, making it the perfect opportunity to make new friends and ask any questions you may have.

Jess Golding is a Karting Australia Accredited Driving Instructor, Level 4 Karting Australia Official, and current Blue Card Holder. In 2005 Jess won the ReSa Light Australian National Karting Championship and is Australia’s most recent female green plate winner.

FAQ's

Who runs the day?

The day is run with Jess Golding Motorsport and Ipswich Kart Club. Russell Innes - IKC Junior Development Officer runs the OLS session for those who hit the 1 min mark.

What Licence do I need?

You will need a current Karting Australia practice or racing licence to participate in this program and be a member of a Karting Australia club.

Do you provide the karts and other equipment?

No. This is not a come and try day and participants are required to provide all equipment (kart, protective equipment, tools, fuel and other consumables).

Who is this program for?

The program is designed for new kart racers. If you are in your first year of karting, on your p plates and are a cadet or junior driver, this is for you!

How many participants attend?

The program is capped at 12 drivers only. Tickets are sold on a first in, best dressed scenario.

What is included?

Your practice ticket, a full day of group driver coaching, lunch for the driver and pit crew, and a goodie bag.

What time does the day start and end?

The gates open at 8:30 am. We ask that all participants are dressed and ready to go by 09:30 am.

Where do I pit?

Please park all cars and trailers in the main pit area. We leave all the karts on the out grid. This helps keep everyone together, and means more track time. Please note - all re-fuelling, sprays etc need to be done just outside the out-grid please
